Professionalization of a non profit organization through the functional model of volunteering

The present thesis focuses on the development of volunteerism as a part of the professionalization of a nonprofit organization. Case study took place in the organization Pestrá společnost, which is dedicated to the training of assistance dogs and provides social services to the owners of assistance dogs. The organization uses volunteers regularly and on long-term basis. Research in this organization confirms the fact that quality management of volunteerism effectively utilizes the capacity of motivated volunteers and reduces overall financial costs. The theoretical part focuses on the professionalisation of management of volunteering through the selection and training of volunteers with regard to their motivation. It describes how the motivation of volunteers links with the aims of the organization. An organization, which is interested in linking together the motivation of volunteers and its own aims during the process of their selection and training must undoubtedly benefit from this collaboration. Title: Organization of volunteers in the Czech House during The Summer Olympic Games in London Objectives: The thesis is focused on issues of choice and management of volunteers for the Czech House in London, which was the main meeting place for fans and athletes and also the place for public presentation of the Czech Republic during the Summer Olympic Games 2012. The aim is to describe the organization of volunteers and to suggest changes that could be utilized in the next years or when working with volunteers during similar events. Methods: The information have been obtained by the interview with the chief coordinator of volunteers, informal interviews with volunteers and my own experience as an volunteer in the Czech House (observation). Results: The methods used have brought enough information to create a complete description of the organizational system of volunteers in the Czech House. The segmentation on individual personnel actions contributed to the clarity of this description. For most of the actions there was a relevant content from the organizational system of volunteers. The motivation of volunteers in nonprofit organization

Based on the growth of social needs non-profit organization became more relevant over the past decade. An integral part of nonprofit organizations are volunteers, people who do not receive any financial reward for their activities. It is therefore clear that for their work in the nonprofit organization salary can not be the main motivation, how could it be for some paid jobs. Theoretical part of the bachelor thesis aims to clarify volunteers's motivating factors and tools that nonprofit organizations use to encourage their motivation. The analytical part presents methods how to motivate volunteers in the system of a specific nonprofit organization. Questionnaires from volunteers were used to find a satisfaction with this system. The results of the analysis will propose possible changes that could lead to improvement of the current system.
